Clément & Laura’s Short-Notice Tiny Wedding

Washington, DC — Park Ceremony

It was a chilly day in March—one of those in-between days where the season hasn’t quite made up its mind.

Just days earlier, the air had been warm. But on March 28, there was a noticeable shift. The kind of chill that reminds you winter isn’t fully gone yet, even as spring tries to settle in.

I arrived early, as I always do, giving myself time to be present before the ceremony began. The park was alive in its usual rhythm—people moving through, dogs passing by, quiet conversations in the background—everything continuing as it does, while something meaningful was about to take place within it.

Clément arrived early as well, along with a few of their guests. They gathered near a steel archway that framed the ceremony space—an open structure shaped like the outline of a narrow house, forming a path beneath it.

Laura’s Arrival

She walked beneath the archway with her parents, moving steadily toward Clément. As Laura made her way through the arch, something subtle happened—the movement in the park paused. People nearby turned their attention toward her, recognizing that something meaningful was unfolding. In that moment, the space was shared with quiet respect as she continued forward.

She wore a sleeveless white gown and carried a bouquet of flowers, fully present in the moment despite the chill in the air.

As the ceremony moved forward and the vows approached, something shifted.

One by one, phones were lifted. Family and friends stood ready to capture the moment—the words, the expressions, the promises. The vows are always that point in a ceremony where everything becomes real.

Clément and Laura spoke their vows, witnessed and recorded by those closest to them.

They could have chosen a different path. In Washington, DC, couples have the option of self-uniting marriage. But they chose to include an officiant, ensuring their marriage would be formally recognized not only in the United States, but abroad.

When asked, “Who presents this bride in marriage,” the moment was met with warmth and presence from those gathered.

And then came the highlight.

They were pronounced husband and wife and presented to their family. The energy lifted instantly—that was the moment everything came together.

Reviews

A few days later, they left three 5-star reviews—one on WeddingWire, The Knot, and Google Maps:

“Starlene did such an incredible job with our ceremony. She tailored the ceremony to make it even more special for us and did all of this in a very short amount of time. She arrived very early at the location of the wedding, ensuring it would go as planned.
Starlene, if you read this, Laura and I appreciate everything you did for us. Thanks a lot!”
