Bedside Legal Weddings

We have provided bedside marriage services in Washington, DC hospitals for more than 14 years. Life is unpredictable, and when a loved one is suddenly hospitalized, plans; including marriage—are often put on hold.
During these moments, families are required to make important decisions quickly, often under emotional stress. Our role is to assist with the ceremony itself, once a valid District of Columbia marriage license has been issued.
We are available to provide bedside marriage ceremonies when time is critical. Speaking with you is the first step, allowing us to understand your situation and determine availability.
Our officiant, Rev. Starlene Joyner Burns, travels throughout Washington, DC to provide mobile bedside ceremonies at hospitals and care facilities. Below are some of the hospitals we commonly serve:
- George Washington University Hospital
- Georgetown University Hospital
- Howard University Hospital
- Providence Hospital
- Sibley Memorial Hospital
- MedStar Washington Hospital Center
Bedside ceremonies are conducted with patience, dignity, and respect for the couple, their families, and medical staff. When family or friends are present, services remain non-religious and discreet, honoring the seriousness of the moment.
In one instance, a couple married at Washington Hospital Center prior to a scheduled surgery. The ceremony provided reassurance and peace of mind during a difficult time. Each situation is unique, and we approach every bedside marriage with care and sensitivity.
Rev. Burns is an ordained officiant, registered with the DC Superior Court, and experienced in hospital and bedside ceremonies. She works directly with couples who already possess a valid DC marriage license.
