When Chanita called the DC Marriage Knot about getting married at George Washington University Hospital, I was ready to assist.  Many thoughts went through my mind as I pondered the affects of the shutdown on marriages.

The DC marriage bureau was still shutdown.

Fortunately, Mayor Bowser stepped in and passed a temporary order to distribute marriage licenses.  This meant a lot to this couple.  They were able to marry during the shutdown.

They married on 1/15/19.  GW staff was so inspirational.  His doctor, nurses, and others gathered around as witnesses.  One made the bride a veil, one brought her a floral bouquet.

They was lots of support.    Unfortunately, the Duane made his transition a week later.
